A poor workman blames their tools. A good workman values them, maintains them and learns how to use them! And all tree surgeons worth their salt will know how to tactically employ the following tools, which we’ve run over and explored in this latest blog, for the benefit of any curious parties in one of our core service areas – Edenbridge.

Chainsaws – Far from a one-size fits all tool, chainsaws come in all sorts of different configurations/sizes, with various attachments that can aid in specific aspects of tree surgery. The quintessential tool for arboriculture requires a trained operator, like one of our Edenbridge tree surgeons, who are qualified to ensure safe handling at all times.
Chippers – If you’ve ever seen tree surgeons at work around Edenbridge, you’ll likely be familiar with chippers. These towed machines take logs, branches and other unwieldy bits of wood, and reduce them to a much more manageable wood chip. This can then be re-used to frame paths or serve as mulch, helping plants grow healthily. Alternatively, we can take it away for recycling.
Stump Grinders – Stumps can often be fairly stubborn things, and without their faithful grinders our tree surgeons might struggle to reduce them to more manageable states on behalf of our Edenbridge clients. But with them, they can quickly and safely reduce these tripping hazards without the need for full-fledged root removal – which in many instances is far too expensive and inconvenient to bother with.
Cherry Pickers – A lot of the time, our tree surgeons use traditional techniques to physically scale a tree, using carefully honed know-how and safety equipment to access the uppermost reaches of a tree. Sometimes, no matter how much we’d like to, we have to admit defeat and call in a cherry picker; these help us access higher parts of a tree in extremely dangerous instances, for example when a tree is long-dead and structurally unsound.
